PROFITTING FROM THE WORD
You wonder why the Word looks like it’s impotent in the life of many Christians, it is because we are just religious in our service to God. Most times we go to Church and don’t bother to check again what we were taught. However the issue really is that we have all somehow unconsciously believe that the bible is meant to be studied and believed by our Pastors – who reads, comes back to preach at us and turns it to prayers for us… ignorance!
As the begotten of God through Christ our Lord, we are all supposed to be Custodians of the Word. The Bible is the book that reveals God and also reflects the true image of the believer. If you want to grow and prosper in your Christianity, you must consider these:
DESIRE TO KNOW: “As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby” (1pet2:1) have you ever seen babies how they desire that mother’s breast milk? They want nothing but the milk. In like manner we are meant to desire the sincere milk of the word of God. The man who will profit from the word is the man who desires the true knowledge of God by studying.
DELIGENCE :Be deligent to show yourself approved, a workman that need not to ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth” (1 tim 2:15 NKJV). Give no room for intellectual laziness. A diligent study of the Word makes the mind curious and a curious heart asks questions. Most times, it’s in asking questions that you get to understand the scripture more. Strain every nerve to know.
YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OLD AND THE NEW TESTAMENTS: (Hebrews 7:18-19) I want to draw your attention to the bible truth that the old and the new testament of the bible cannot be valid at the same time. In having the new covenant the former cease to be the code of conduct. What now guides the believer’s life is the New Testament. This does not mean the Old Testament should not be read but should be read in light of the new. A proper understanding of the two testaments establishes your knowledge of the word.
The profiting comes when all the above discussed are in place. After all these are attended to, make a conscious effort to do the word (James 1:25).
Love you so much.
