A man is a spirit, has a soul and lives in the body. The body is the tangible (obivious) part of man that help him relate with his environment while the Spirit and soul is the inmaterial part of man. The soul is the consit of your will, emotion, conscience and mind. The body and soul can be touched constantly but the Spirit is totally different. The Spirit is the part that got born again in man. You can not in the physical or natural(emotional) way touch the Spirit. Here is where the problem of the Christian lies. We think we can relate with God through what we feel or not. We relate with God through the Spirit.
The Spirit is the part of man that was changed. This is the medium that the life and power of God flows through. You need to understand the concept of Spirit soul and body to be able to be effective in your walk with God because the Spirit is the part that is filled with spiritual realities.
The Spirit of the man 'Born Again' is complete even at the point of salvation; perfect in nature just as God is in nature. Immediately we come to God, we recieve the fullness of God (Eph 4:24).
The Spirit of the believer is always like God and for God. The Spirit is the life giving part of man and the soul is interference between the body and the Spirit.The soul is dedicated to the body. The soul does not make the man but the Spirit (James2:26).
Therefore,the spirit is the essence of man and must be real to you than even your body that is seen in the mirror. The Spirit can be seen through the Word of God (James1:22-25); here the bible is likened unto a mirror that reflects to us all that we are in the Spirit. The word of God is the mirror of the Spirit. To understand spiritual truth you must study God's word and not be moved by emotions(soulish realm) or what you can see, hear or touch (body).
The reason for this write up is to remind us that are Spirits and not mere men moved by emotions and perceptions but by the Spirit. Therefore, let us walk as the regenerated men that we are, renewing our minds and growing up in our christianity. However, we are total and complete in our Spirit. Our spirit is not growing, is not getting better but complete. We are the ones that can grow by giving expression to the Spirit in us bringing the flesh under the control of the Spirit.
"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus..."(1Thes5:23)
